It's Friday, so my attention span is on the short side. Random items. Sentence fragments. Here goes.

I just had visitor number 3000. Okay, I know some people get that many visitors in a day. I'm flattered to get any, so I was gonna throw a little party, ring some bells, throw some confetti, make my special visitor feel important.

Except my visitor was just doing a google seach for "soup shoes." I was number 36 on that search, behind a lot of other really random stuff. But "soup shoes"? I have to wonder if Visitor was playing one of those Goggle games...

Ted and Eric have the hockey playoff news well covered, and since the warm weather has me in a summer frame of mind, I'll move on to cycling. The Tour de Georgia is going on this week right here in the US. Even if you don't follow cycling much, there are some names here you might know: Bobby Julich. Jacky Durand. Mario Cipollini. Oh, and some Lance guy.

Happy belated Earth Day: Nature has an analysis of organic farming that is interesting and looks fairly balanced. It's all chemicals, I like to say...but I do pay a lot of extra money for organic eggs.

When my clock radio finally penetrated my congested head this morning, I heard the radio announcer say "Stay home if you are sick!" I thought he was talking to me. I rolled over, relieved...turns out he was reporting on this story:

Workers who come in sick cost their employers an average of $255 each per year, according to Cornell University labor researchers.

Sick employees have difficulty concentrating, work more slowly and have to repeat tasks, bogging down productivity, according to the study.

Of course, I work like that when I am well, too...especially on Fridays.
